Yes; above all else, \u0130nebolu holds immense significance for the Turkish nation as the most crucial pillar of the War of Independence\u2014a period that spanned from Istanbul to Ankara and sustained the struggle. It served as the logistical, intelligence, and communications hub of the War of Independence.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

\u0130nebolu is the town where heroic sailors made history with their traditional rowboats and were subsequently awarded the Independence Medal by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.<\/span><\/h3>

With its pierless harbor, \u0130nebolu was one of the region\u2019s most important trade and export centers during the final years of the Ottoman Empire and the early years of the Republic. While you\u2019re in \u0130nebolu, you should definitely visit the City Museum first. There, you\u2019ll find important traces of the city\u2019s history and its past.<\/span><\/h3>

Then take a stroll through the streets and avenues of downtown \u0130nebolu. Although it has drifted away from its historic character in recent years, here and there you\u2019ll find clues that tell stories of its past.<\/span><\/h3>

While strolling through the streets, be sure to check out the Sundial located in the garden of the Yeni Mosque (Tevfikiye Mosque), which was built in 1931 by the late master craftsman Ahmet Ziya Akbulut and is considered one of the best in the world.<\/span><\/h3>

Once again, you absolutely must see the T\u00fcrk Oca\u011f\u0131 building\u2014now used as the \u0130stiklal Yolu Museum\u2014and the historic Yarba\u015f\u0131 Steps in front of it, which still hold the stories and secrets of the War of Independence.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

And so, even though we may not have any concrete evidence today to tell you the story of our boatmen, you can stand here at the Yarba\u015f\u0131 Steps, look out at the sea, and imagine the identical rowboats setting out one after another from this shore, as well as the children, women, and elderly people rushing to unload ammunition from the boats\u2014and in this way, experience this historic atmosphere.<\/span><\/h3>

While we\u2019re on the subject, let us also take this opportunity to note a very important need we have in this regard: We urgently need a museum where we can provide a detailed account of the \u0130nebolu Bargemen Association, which has left a profound mark on the history of \u0130nebolu and even on the history of our National Struggle and the Republic.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

The oil mill is located in the village of Korup\u0131nar, 8 km from the center of \u0130nebolu, and continues to operate in its original form.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

Next, the historic knife-making workshops located in the B\u0131\u00e7ak\u00e7\u0131lar neighborhood of Dibek Village are also among the places I highly recommend you visit. For nearly 800 years, you can listen to the melody created by the anvil and hammer working in unison and witness this magnificent historical tradition.<\/span><\/h3>

In fact, our town of \u0130nebolu offers far more tourist attractions and holds the essence of an open-air museum within its very heart. The main regional dishes you can try at these establishments include \u0130nebolu G\u00fcveci, Halu\u015fka, \u0130nebolu Mant\u0131s\u0131 (Kulakl\u0131 Makarna), Meat Bread, \u0130nebolu Pide, K\u0131z\u0131lc\u0131k Tarhana, \u0130nebolu D\u00f6ner, and Kesme Pasta (served with beans or garlic yogurt). Public transportation service is provided from Kastamonu center to Inebolu at frequent intervals throughout the day.
